Lots of layoffs and restructuring at work this week. I have a job, but I am also tired and lord knows it’s going to take everything I have to rethink my projects and workflows. After writing and rewriting the same chapter like a billion times (okay, fine, six times) I realized that my tank is just empty and I probably need a little break.
So basically, I’m going to take a few weeks off to get my shit together: try to adjust to the new climate at work, lurk and catch up on my fave SimLits, probably just play the game for fun for awhile. Might have some bonus content coming from AU Alice and Vlad.
Anyways, I’ll be back soon with headless Deacon, wild college parties, a very weird challenge for cake week, and other supernatural shenanigans.
Also, 2020 really can go fuck itself.
Definitely take time for yourself, and no rush to finish the next chapter. When it’s done, it’s done. I’m enjoying this story immensely and will be here to read it whenever you start updating it again. 🙂
Recharge all you need; I’ll be right here waiting to see how Vlad wrecks cake week and Rory somehow makes it Alice’s fault!
Take all the time you need. I have been taking breaks from my stories, and it’s really nice to just relax. It also allows my ideas to refresh. Otherwise, it feels like I’m trying to get blood from a stone.
It’s time for a reread!
2020 is the worst. I thought I was going to get so much done, but apparently not.
Yes and yes. Occasionally I still have fantasies about all I was going to accomplish, but they are mostly that: fantasies. Haha!
That feeling—trying to get blood from a stone—holy shit yes. Just relieving the pressure let me play around and develop ideas. I’ve written about 4.5 chapters so far and it’s been really nice to just be able to pull them apart and play around with them. If I get stuck, I just let an idea marinate until I figure out a solution.
Also, catching up on my reading has really helped. Other people’s stories so inspire me!
Do you publish on WordPress or just write for yourself?
Welp, two years later and I noticed your comment. I knew I commented on this similt once or twice but I didn’t know when. I stopped reading around here I think because life got super just shitty, so I’m catching up on it all now. Yay!
I’ll let you know when I catch up on everything. It’s pretty weird seeing all these comments from 2020, but I thought I’d comment here because 5 AM me doesn’t care.
And as for writing? I’m still working on it. I write fanfic and original stuff (non simlit) and I’ve recently started writing a simlit story of my own too. It might be a while until I upload it anywhere, because I am a pantser. I make up everything as I go along. For this reason, I try to finish works before I upload them anywhere.
Anyway, I’m enjoying this similt thus far and I’m cursing past me for not keeping up with this.
It’s very good.
I’m glad that I can binge “Baking By Death” tho it’s gonna suck when I catch up to the other stories.
Bye!
Haha, that sounds about right given the time! What even is time? I’m glad you’re still writing a variety of stuff. I thought about trying to finish my simlit before I published it, but I think publishing chapter by chapter keeps me following through. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the story and I can’t believe I actually finished it. I will be honest, at some points, I wasn’t sure if I ever would. Writing is hard and wonderful and also hard.
Happy reading and I hope I get to read more of your stuff one day 🙂
I’m with you there. 2019 was not great for me, so when we got to the new year, I was like, yay, finally! The silly little idiot I was! A part of me is still in denial that this year has even happened. I guess it’s no accident all the doomsday scifi was set in 2020. I hope to see you thin more soon though! Can’t thank you enough for the loveliness your story has brought to my life ❤️
I’m finally all caught up!
I started reading when you first started last year but because I had to get a new phone I couldn’t find all the simlit I had been reading. It was really eating at me but I recently found your story again and I’m just as hooked as I was in the beginning! I love your writing and pacing but please take the time you need to recuperate and focus on you! My phone won’t die anytime soon, so I’ll be ready to come back when you are 🙂
Thank you! Gah, I’m so glad you’ve been reading and enjoying it! Hahaha, I definitely go through rounds where I just binge SimLit. I am learning that breaks are good. I am preparing for a return so more coming soon 🙂
