Baking By Death Season 3 Trailer

Chapter List

The final season of Baking By Death is coming at you starting Sunday, August 9th. Chapters 31 – 34 are in pretty good shape, mostly just need screenshots and final edits. Chapters 35 – 37 are about 80% drafted. And Chapters 38 – 43 are about 50% drafted. My plan is to release chapters on Sundays and hopefully make some fun bonus content to come out on Wednesdays.

And before you get too sad, let me just say unequivocally this is just the beginning of the adventure for these characters! After this story wraps I’ll be starting Underworld Summer Vacation (preview courtesy of Chapter 44) where there will be more supernatural shenanigans, romance, and of course a god war or two šŸ™‚

That trailer is one of the best Sim-related pieces of media I’ve seen and you should be proud of it! Can’t wait to see what the rest of this lot get up to!

Thank you! It was hard to get the hang of first but then once I figured out how camera angles worked (thanks youtube) it was a lot of fun! Now I’m trying to figure out what else I can make for this story šŸ™‚

I have watched this more times than I care to admit. The hype is real 🄳

LOL same! I made excuses like: ā€œI’m just making sure it worksā€ but when I called my husband into the office for the third time, it was clear that I had a problem hahahahaha. Glad you like it!

You made another trailer?! DUDE THIS IS SO EPIC. It looks so professional and it must have taken forever!! It’s a shame Spark’d isn’t being used to highlight underrated creators, because I would watch this 1000x, and probably will, before I get anywhere near a single episode of that crap. Maybe they’re going for “hey, that’s not that bad; I could do that!” rather than “hey, people actually put a lot of thought into this genre!”, but I am, in all honesty, rooting for BBD to become popular enough to represent SimLit as a whole. Lately a friend clued me in to how few works of fanfiction have symbolism or foreshadowing or overarching themes, and I personally didn’t realize how spoiled I was on the coherence and expert construction here. And I can keep gushing but maybe I’ll just let it out in waves.

(plus it has Bernard, even if he is a douchejerk)

Seeing a lot of characters kissing who weren’t kissing before, but that’s beside the point. And I spy a Hitchhiker’s Guide reference…

I second your thoughts here – do not care for Spark’d in any way, shape or form, but I’d happily have this on repeat. I’m definitely on the hype train, bring on the next season, choo choo!

Yeah I mean I wrote such a long reply to this lol so I won’t repeat it but I feel like the format kind of does a disservice to showcasing all the work that goes into the creating stuff. I wanted less reality tv contest and more just seeing the behind the scenes of people making cool ass shit.

Umm WELCOME TO THE HYPE TRAIN!!!!!!! hahahahah

I think for me the whole premise is weird, it goes against everything I’ve considered the sims to be – I mean, it was never supposed to be a competitve game, it was meant to be a sandbox where you let your mind lose and create anything you want, right? So the whole concept of “let’s get creative, but within very specific and superficial restrictions, and then judge and score who does it BETTER” just rubs me the wrong way. You can’t be better or worse at the sims, it’s an outlet. At least that’s how I’ve always seen it, and I’m not planning to change it now.

That is HIGH PRAISE coming from you. I mean, without iMovie’s little trailer templates and all the incredible machinima creators on Youtube it would have been impossible. Seriously, some of the stuff people make blows my mind. But I am pretty proud of it so thank you šŸ™‚

I think I might try to make more videos for this story. I mean, it was eight kajillion hours of work but it was so satisfying. And TBH your foray into comics and digital illustration has inspired me—I mean the cool thing about this as a storytelling medium is that we aren’t beholden to one form. And it’s kind of fun to stretch those creative muscles.

I did go ahead and watch an episode of Spark’d just so I could like see what it actually turned out as. I mean, Baking By Death is about a reality TV baking show (kind of lol) so clearly I love this stuff and my quibble isn’t that it exists. Some of my favorite youtubers are on it and those people build insane stuff that I could only dream of being able to do, not to mention the cc some of them create.

I liked that we talked a little about how people got started to create things that were missing for them in the world – for example, the one who got her start making custom skin tones because she was tired of seeing a game and content about people who didn’t look like her.

Interestingly enough, the story/build that won one of the challenges in the first episode was the most ā€œnon-traditional this is a nice dollhouseā€ story. It was about an old woman who experienced a ton of tragedy in her life and adopted two punk twins who she controls through voodoo dolls. It was wild. I loved it. I wanted to spend a thousand hours hearing more about it and watching them build it.

And that’s where the show kind of falls off for me.

Aside from the wish that it would have some kind of narrative/documentary element that showed the depth and breadth of the creative community, I wish it really let these people run with it and use all the tools to tell incredible stories. I don’t care about timed challenges or grabbing props, I care about watching people work their craft and do off-the-wall stuff with it.

Alright this reply is ridiculously long. I’m pumped that people are reading the story and enjoying all the deep world-building and thematic elements I’ve agonized over hahaha. But it was simmers like you (and some other peeps) that showed me what was possible—that you could make deep, emotionally-compelling, entertaining, creative content that didn’t have to fit into a nice box with a bow.

I’m not going anywhere near it on principle, but that story seems legit! Surely the creators are incredibly talented to make it onto the show. Good on them! It’s the hierarchy and the bureaucratic crap I don’t like; I have multiple ideas for the wedding challenge but damn if EA’s getting that type of free labor out of me (and a video?! I don’t mean to be all Ray-Bradbury rabble-rabble BOOKS rabble-rabble TV ROTS THE BRAIN but I just don’t want to learn videography). I’m glad they’re supporting some creators and agree with you that it feels like a missed opportunity to un-bury some cool stuff.

Is the person you’re talking about Xmiramira? I have her Melanin Pack! Okay, if she’s on the show, she’s the only person I’ve heard of.

Let’s keep killing it. MULTIMEDIA AWAY!!
